The Medical Foundation for Care of Victims of Torture

The charity provides therapy, medical-legal help, welfare advice and a drama group for refugees and asylum seekers who have been tortured and are adjusting to an uncertain life in exile.

They also provide training for mental health and other workers who have contact with torture survivors. The Manchester Centre receives nearly 15 referrals a fortnight and sees clients from over 50 different countries. Over 70% of income comes from individual donations and local fundraising. There is a small fundraising group in Manchester and several of us live in Chorlton.
